Vocabulary: What does she look like?

Look at the following sentences from Megan's description:

  • Megan is a tall and slim woman in her early thirties.
  • Megan has got long, straight brown hair.
  • She’s got light blue eyes.
  • She has fair skin and a delicate, oval face.

In this first section, you will learn vocabulary to describe someone's physical appearance. Pay attention to the following features:

  1. What do/does ..... look like ? - This is the question we usually make when we want to know someone's physical appearance.
  2. In English, adjectives always go before the noun, unless we use the adjective as the attribute in a sentence with the verb "Be".
    • a tall and slim woman
    • straight brown hair
    • light blue eyes
    • fair skin and a delicate, oval face
  3. Use the verbs BE and HAVE GOT:
    • She is tall and slim.
    • She's got blue eyes.
    • She's got an oval face.
