Country / Nationality / Language
In this unit, we will learn about language diversity and the difference between names of countries, adjectives of nationality, and names of languages.
Countries:
Countries are geographical locations where people live, each with its own unique culture, history, and identity. For example:
France is a beautiful country known for its art and cuisine.
Japan is famous for its rich history and technological innovations.
Brazil is renowned for its vibrant music and dance culture.
He's from Ireland.
Adjectives of Nationality:
Adjectives of nationality are used to describe people or things from a particular country. They help us identify the origin or nationality of a person or object. For instance:
People from France are French.
People from Japan are Japanese.
People from Brazil are Brazilian.
He's Irish.
Names of Languages:
Each country often has its own official language, and there are many languages spoken worldwide. Sometmes, the name of the language and the adjective of nationality are the same word.
People from France are French, and they speak French.
People from Japan are Japanese, and they speak Japanese.
People from Brazil are Brazilian, and they speak Portuguese.
Peter is from Ireland. He's Irish and he speaks English and Gaelic.
And, don't forget: We always write these words with initial CAPITAL LETTER.
