WH- words
In English, when we want to find out information or ask about something, we often use questions.
There are Yes/No Questions, whose answer can only be Yes/No. Is the new student English? Yes, he is / No, he isn't.
But quite often we want to know something in particular. Then, we have to make a question using a Wh- Word or Pronoun: Where is the new student from? In this case, a Yes/No answer is not possible: Yes, he is / No, he isn't. You have to answer: He is from England. These words help us get details.
These words are known as "Wh- words" because they usually start with the letters "Wh-" except for the pronoun "How." What, Where, When, Who, Why, How... are W-words.
Pay attention to the question in this section: How often do you go hiking?. How often is the Wh-word, and the rest of the sentence has the usual word order of a question: do+subject+verb...?
How often is a very common Wh- word in Present Simple questions, specially when we want to know about the frequency of an activity or habit, such as hiking in this case. It helps you get information about how frequently someone goes hiking.

En inglés, cuando queremos obtener información o preguntar acerca de algo, a menudo usamos preguntas.
Hay preguntas cuya respuesta solo puede ser Sí/No, en las que no se utilizan "pronombres interrogativos": ¿Es el estudiante nuevo inglés? Sí / No.
Pero con frecuencia queremos saber algo en particular. Entonces, tenemos que hacer una pregunta utilizando una "Wh- word" o Pronombre Interrogativo: ¿De dónde es el estudiante nuevo? En este caso, una respuesta de Sí/No no es posible. Tienes que responder: Es de Inglaterra. Estas palabras nos ayudan a obtener detalles concretos sobre algo o alguien.
Las conocemos como Wh- Words porque generalmente comienzan con las letras "Wh-", excepto por el pronombre "How". ¿Qué, Dónde, Cuándo, Quién, Por qué, Cómo... son "Wh- Words".
Presta atención a la pregunta de esta sección: ¿Con qué frecuencia vas de senderismo? Con qué frecuencia es el pronombre interrogativo, y el resto de las palabras de la oración tiene el orden normal de una pregunta, en este caso en Presente Simple: do + sujeto + verbo...?
"How often" es un pronombre muy común en preguntas en Presente Simple, especialmente cuando queremos saber acerca de la frecuencia de una actividad o hábito, como el senderismo en este caso.
