NICE TO MEET YOU !

Nice to meet you!

Hello! My name is David Smith. I am forty years old and live in Brighton, England. I work as a graphic designer. I've been happily married for fifteen years and have got two lovely kids, a son and a daughter. Our home is a cozy cottage by the sea. There's so much to do in Brighton; I enjoy playing football, going hiking, and listening to jazz music. I have a close group of friends, and we often play football on weekends. By the way, do you like football?

Hi! I'm Sarah Wilson, and I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland. I am thirty-two years old and work as a teacher in a local primary school. I have a fantastic job working with children. I live in a small flat in the city centre, and I absolutely love the vibrant atmosphere of Edinburgh. In my free time, I like to explore new cafés and restaurants, as I'm a bit of a foodie. I also enjoy hiking in the beautiful Scottish countryside. On weekends, I often visit art galleries or attend live music events. Speaking of music, I play the piano too! Do you enjoy any hobbies like painting or playing a musical instrument?

In this unit, we will explore essential vocabulary related to countries, nationalities, languages, family members and jobs, and the Present Simple tense. Our two friends, David Smith and Sarah Wilson have said some interesting things about themselves:

  • David is from England, while Sarah is from Scotland. These are their countries.
David is English, and Sarah is Scottish. Both are British. These are their nationalities.
    They both speak English.
  • David says that he has got a wife and two children - a son and a daughter. These are his relatives (family members).
  • David works as a graphic designer, and Sarah is a teacher.
  • I work as a graphic designer (David), I often play football on weekends (David), I explore new cafés (Sarah). This is the Present Simple, the tense we use to describe routines and facts.

Throughout this unit, you will learn more about these topics. By the end of this unit, you'll be able to say or write about your nationality, your family, your job and your daily routines.

¿qué vas a aprender?

¡Empecemos!
