Grammar - The Plural of Nouns

In English, we often need to talk about more than one thing. When we do that, we use the "plural". Look at the title of this section: Men and Women. The singular form is Man (hombre) and Woman (mujer). If we have to use the plural form, we don't say "Mans" or "Womans" in plural, but "Men and Women". These are "irregular" nouns.

There are a few different ways or "spelling rules" to make a noun become plural in English. Most nouns add -S to their singular form, as in Spanish, but there are some others that form the plural adding -ES / -IES / -VES... (buses / babies / wolves). And there are also some "irregular" nouns that don't follow any of these rules (Man-Men). So, it is important for you to understand how to form plurals.

Now, let's practice making nouns plural together.

En inglés, el plural de un sustantivo se forma, en la mayoría de los casos, como en español, es decir, añadiendo una -S al singular. Pero hay otras formas de plural que conviene que aprendas. Incluso hay nombres "irregulares", es decir, que no siguen ninguna regla al formar su plural. A continuación puedes ver todos los plurales.
