What's the weather like?
|
Here is the weather. Welcome to the weather forecast. Now, let's see what the weather will be like tomorrow. In the north of the country it will be very windy and cold. There is a chance of some rain too, so don't leave home without your umbrella! The temperature will be around 10 degrees centigrade. In the east it'll be rainy all day tomorrow, I'm afraid. There may be a thunderstorm in the afternoon. The temperature will be a bit higher, at around 13 degrees centigrade. In the west and middle of the country the weather will be dry, but cloudy. So no rain for you, but it will be quite windy and the temperature will be just 10 degrees centigrade. The south of the country will have the best weather tomorrow. It'll be cloudy most of the time but sunny in the afternoon. The temperature will be around 15 degrees.

When you want to ask about the weather in English, you can use some simple questions. One common question is,
What's the weather like? (now)
What was the weather like? (past)
What will the weather be like? (future)
To answer this question, you can use different words and phrases. Here are some basic ways to describe the weather:
IT IS / WAS / WILL BE + ADJECTIVE
"It's sunny."
"It's cloudy."
"It's rainy."
"It's windy."
"It's hot."
"It's cold."
You may also want to describe the temperature more specifically. When talking about the temperature, we also use BE (It is / was / will be) temperature, we use numbers with the word "degrees" and then say if it's "Celsius" or "Fahrenheit," depending on which system you are using. For instance, "It's 20 degrees Celsius.".
You can also talk about changes in temperature with phrases like:
"It's getting hotter." This means the temperature is rising.
"It's cooling down." This means the temperature is decreasing.
