Plans for the Future Hello, everyone! My name is Tom. I am studying to get my secondary school certificate. It's not always easy, but I am determined. I am going to study hard for my exams. I know that if I study every day, I will pass with good marks. I have a dream of becoming an engineer. So, I am going to take extra maths classes next term. If I improve my maths, I will apply for engineering at university. Sometimes, I feel a bit worried about the future, but I always tell myself, 'What an adventure life is!' and 'How exciting the future can be!' These thoughts make me feel better. I also plan to travel. I am going to visit Spain next summer. I am sure it will be a wonderful experience! I've heard the weather there is so warm and sunny. In my free time, I study English. I read slowly but clearly. Speaking English well is very important for my future. What about you? What are your plans for the future? |
In Unit 5, you will learn the vocabulary you need to describe the landscape or tell someone about the weather. You will also learn how to form and use the Future Tenses: Will and Be Going To, the Zero and First Conditional, the Degrees of Adjectives, the Adverbs of Manner and the Exclamatory Sentences.
Listen carefully to what Tom is saying. Tom is a student just like you, studying in an adult secondary school. He's excited about the future and has big plans. Tom's story is a great way to start thinking about our own futures.
In this unit, we will learn how to talk about the future using 'will' and 'be going to'.
We will also explore how to express possibilities with first conditional sentences.
And, we'll practise making exclamations with 'What', 'How', 'Such', and 'So' to express our feelings.
We will also learn the adverbs of manner and degrees of adjectives to describe how we do things.
Lastly, we'll learn vocabulary related to the weather, so you can talk about your own sunny days or rainy plans!
Let's get started and see where the future will take us!
